Our client in the East midlands has an excellent permanent opportunity as a Fraud Investigator, for a candidate who shows a flair for investigation. The purpose of the role is to investigate serious and/or complex fraud cases in both the public and private sector, and allegations of corruption. The daily duties of the role will include; To supervise investigations undertaken by the Major Fraud Investigation Unit To manage, supervise and support staff within the Major Fraud Investigation Unit To interview witnesses and obtain statements. To act as Investigating Officer and effectively manage investigations using the Economic Crime Unit’s case management system, including: o the maintenance of policy and activity logs o preserving the continuity and integrity of exhibits o the recording and retention of unused material To conduct taped interviews of suspects (in accordance with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984). To compile prosecution files of evidence for submission to the Crown Prosecution Service, including assuming the role of Disclosure Officer under the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996. To liaise with Crown Prosecution Service lawyers and prosecution barristers, in order to assist the smooth passage of cases through the court system. To attend court in order to give evidence in relation to investigations in their entirety. To assist in the execution of search warrants, to provide informed judgment with regard to the seizure of fraud related evidence in compliance with the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001. To advise non specialist investigators in relation to fraud related matters Where legislation allows, obtain Production Orders and Warrants.
