Providing general supervision for divisional Volume Crime Scene Investigation staff and a line of communication between the unit and divisional managers, you will control and monitor the unit's budget, maintain records of scene visits and liaise with various agencies in the field of scene investigation. With detailed working knowledge of the three Scientific Support disciplines (fingerprints, forensic and photography) and experience in the role of Crime Scene Investigator or Volume Crime Scene Investigator, you will have practical experience in the examination of volume crime scenes. Demonstrating the ability to give clear, direct and relevant guidance to investigators about forensic matters, you will assess training needs and instruct new staff in procedures and monitor results. Successful completion of the National Initial Crime Scene course or Volume Crime Scene Course or their equivalent is essential. You should also possess a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend a job related assessment. Appointment to this post is subject to providing a DNA sample and fingerprints for elimination purposes. Closing date: 9 November 2008.
