This post is a strategic position with responsibility for the procurement and monitoring of deployments of covert technical equipment across the Force. You will have will have responsibility for reviewing relevant RIPA authorities allowing deployment of technical equipment and audit reviews of Force covert technical equipment. You will also have some responsibility for managing the Force Technical Support Unit. You may be required to provide supervisory support, technical advice and assistance throughout the force on a 24 hour basis, as there may be occasions when staff within the Technical Unit will need to stay on duty in order to complete a job. There may also be the necessity to work quickly and covertly under demanding circumstances. We require a leader with a mix of supervisory skills and technical ability. You will also be expected to attend National Conferences and training courses, which may mean travelling around the country and short stays away from home. With strong written communication skills and the ability to produce reports and briefing papers for senior management, you will possess up to date knowledge of technical surveillance equipment. Experience in one or more of the areas of photographic, CCTV, electronics, video, audio or IT is essential to this role as is experience in the procurement, planning and management of programmes and projects.
